Charles Gay Library Librarian:
SCDS seeks a creative, flexible and innovative librarian who can function well in a fast-paced educational environment. The librarian will ensure that students and faculty are effective users of information, and will empower students to be critical thinkers, skilled researchers, ethical users of information, and enthusiastic readers. Keep current on technology trends and continually strive to implement new technologies into the library program. Work with students and teachers individually on assignments related to the curriculum. Maintain the library web page and LibGuide creation. With the other librarian, produce documents and signage for the library. Supervise students and maintain order in the library both in conjunction with the other librarian and sometimes alone. Ensure that the collection is inviting, well-maintained, and accessible through careful shelving of books, regular weeding, inventory, and shelf-reading. Learn how various equipment circulated by the library operates. Work collaboratively with faculty to develop and maintain a rich learning environment for the students and classroom teachers. This position includes cataloging and working with the circulation system (Sirsi/Dynix), maintaining user and item (MARC) records and compiling yearly statistics.
