SCDS Community Donates over 2,100 Pounds of Food to America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia
After viewing images of the empty shelves at America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia Food Bank, the SCDS community knew that they had to quickly pull together for a school-wide food drive. As the food bank is operating with 85% less in food donations and with children from low-income families returning back to school, they couldn’t need it more. True to form, we had an overwhelming response from students and families and collected 2,165 pounds of non-perishable items for those in need. In addition to the food drive, Mary Jane Crouch, the executive director of Second Harvest, came to speak to SCDS students about the importance of the food bank and the significance it has within the community. Thank you to everyone who stepped up and helped with this critical need in the Savannah community!
