Alumni Association Board

Julian A. T. Lewis '98, Alumni Board President

Dear fellow alumni and other stakeholders of Savannah Country Day,

The responsibility of the Country Day Alumni Board is to reconnect alumni, and to assist the school in maintaining communications with its previous students and largest support group. We offer advice and perspective when needed to current students and recent alumni and help to drive support for the institution that helped so many of us become who we are today.

The ’21-’22 school year was significantly different from the pandemic-challenged ’20-’21 year. Our mask mandate was lifted in February and allowed students to regain the important social benefits of interpersonal connection, recognition, and communication. Enormous, and quite frankly, unprecedented, progress was made on the construction of Mingledorff Hall, our new 32,000 SF Upper School STEM Center. Our building’s design won the Outstanding Project Award in Learning by Design Magazine’s Fall 2021. An excellent article was written about the award by Savannah CEO.  We are immensely proud of our new facility, and we are confident it will increase our institution’s ability to provide our students, and ultimately future alumni, with the most supportive and encouraging campus environment.

Our school remains committed to its mission of preparing students of academic and personal promise to meet with confidence, imagination, and integrity the challenges of college and of life. In partnership with supportive families, we strive to cultivate in each student the desire and the discipline to grow in wisdom, to lead lives of personal honor, to appreciate beauty, to pursue physical well-being, and to serve others with a generous, compassionate spirit.

Country Day is blessed to be led by a faculty of extraordinary teachers and administrators, inspiring students from the Little School through twelfth grade. Student enrollment is at an all-time high. The current administration and board leadership remain deeply committed to preserving Country Day’s tradition of excellence and continue to enhance the value proposition offered to students and parents. We see a school that values and supports athletics, arts, and a host of other student passions in addition to academics. And last, we see a school that communicates with both parents and alumni to work together in strengthening the Country Day community.

We welcome the opportunity to further our relationship with our alumni. Please take a moment to meet the board.

Sincerely,
Julian A. T. Lewis ’98
