The Theatre Curriculum at SCDS is designed so that students recognize and appreciate the purpose of this culturally-based art form while meaningfully participating.
At Savannah Country Day School, theatre students explore the world—past, present, and future—through reading, performance, and fully realized productions. Using body, breath, and voice, they bring stories to life and connect theatre to everyday experiences.
Extracurricular theatre opportunities span The Little School through Upper School. The Little School and Lower School each present one musical per year. Middle School students perform in one play and one musical annually, while Upper School students participate in three productions each year: a competition one-act play (state champions in 2023), a musical, and a full-length play.
In grades 4-12, students can also take Theatre Arts classes, including Acting and Technical Theatre, gaining skills both on stage and behind the scenes. Across all divisions, students collaborate and create, culminating in the school’s annual Fine Arts Night, a showcase of their talent and growth.
