Congratulations to our Varsity Clay Target team for winning the GA State Championship - our 2nd State Championship title in three years! This year, there were 600+ athletes across 49 teams competing. Our Mighty Hornets not only placed 1st in our Division, we placed 1st overall across all 49 teams in the State!!
Congratulations to our top five athletes who made up our team score of 1,383/1,500, which was 17 clays ahead of both the 2nd and 3rd place teams: 1. Chase Buerger - 290/300 2. Miles Carson - 283/300 3. Jackson Ezelle - 272/300 4. Andrew Nicholson - 270/300 5. Dan Bradley - 268/300.
Impressively, Chase Buerger finished as HOA Runner-Up for the tournament, Miles Carson placed 5th overall, and Gracen Garceau finished Female HOA Runner-Up with a 258/300.
On the Skeet fields, Buerger shot a 99/100, placing 4th overall after a very competitive shootoff, while Carson, Ezelle, and Bradley each put up 97/100 to tie for 9th overall and round out the top 10. Among females, Garceau shot a 95/100 to place 3rd overall after winning her shootoff.
On the Trap fields, Carson dominated, taking 1st place overall with a 99/100, Buerger finished 2nd after winning his shootoff with a 98/100, and Bradley placed 9th with a 94/100. Among females, Garceau's 90/100 clinched 3rd place overall.
The sporting clays course was technically quite challenging, but our Mighty Hornets persevered. Buerger placed 2nd overall with a 93/100, and Carson placed 5th overall with a 87/100. Garceau placed 4th overall among females after her shoot-off with a 73/100.
Three of our athletes were named to the Georgia All-State Team, which represents the top 10 overall athletes. Congratulations to Buerger, Carson, and Ezelle for this impressive honor.
Congratulations to our Middle School Clay Target Team on winning the State Championship! This marks the first time SCDS has claimed this title since the team was established in 2019. Archer Ritchie, Caleb Vo, and Raj Kamaleson were the standout athletes whose performances propelled the team to victory. Ritchie finished 1st overall in trap shooting after an exciting three-way shoot-off. Vo achieved a perfect score of 50/50 in skeet shooting, marking his first perfect score in competition and securing 1st overall. Ritchie closely followed Vo, finishing 2nd overall with a score of 47/50.
