Amina Okumu of Savannah Country Day isn't the biggest player on the soccer field, but the senior is usually the fastest — and has an IQ for the sport that is off the charts.
On Monday, the standout forward set her future in motion when she signed to play college soccer at Georgia Southern.
"Her passion for the sport and intensity are immediately evident when you see her play for the first time," SCD coach David Hooker said.
Okumu had 26 goals and five assists in just 12 games this season for the Hornets, who finished second in Region 3-A Private and advanced to the second round of the playoffs
"She's feisty, tenacious and has the work ethic to match her talent," Hooker said. "She is an inspirational leader and she's going to be exceptional at Georgia Southern."
