Mohring to Lead Hornets

Former Georgia Southern football star John Mohring is returning to southeast Georgia as the new Head Coach at Savannah Country Day. Mohring was a four-year starter and a team captain at linebacker for the Eagles and was named the squad' s MVP in 2005 and 2006. Coach Mohring has spent the last four years at Bishop Verot High School in Ft. Myers, Florida where he served as the Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator and Director of Athletic Performance. He was named a 2020 Coach of the Year Finalist (3A) and led the program to Elite Eight playoff finishes in 2018 and 2019. In addition to his football responsibilities, Coach Mohring will assist with the strength and conditioning program and work within the P.E. department. He excelled as both a player and a coach and has worked with some remarkable coaches along the way. His experience, energy and vision will be a valued asset for our overall athletic program. We welcome Coach Mohring, his wife Misa and their 18 month old son, Bear Addison to SCDS.
