The Fund for Country Day

The Fund for Country Day is the cornerstone of Country Day’s annual fundraising efforts. The Fund provides unrestricted, critical resources each year to bolster budgets of all school divisions & programs.

Gifts to the Annual Fund help bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Country Day education. Annual Funds gifts are unrestricted and provide immediate support to the operating budget supporting faculty and professional development, classroom curriculum to maintain teaching excellence, technology, arts and athletic programming and extra-curricular activities and electives across many disciplines.

$725,000 is the 2023-24 year goal.
 

Following the SCDS fiscal year, the Fund begins on July 1 and ends on June 30 each year.

Next to tuition, your contribution to The Fund for Country Day is the most important way to show your support of the School. 

Students benefit from the margin of excellence created by others’ generous annual gifts to The Fund.  Gifts are asked of all Savannah Country Day School parents, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni, as well as every member of our faculty, staff and Board of Trustees. 

  We ask that constituents give as generously as possible within their means.  Make a gift which aligns with your family’s charitable giving  practices. A gift in any amount is greatly appreciated. What is most important is participation. A gift in any amount shows your support for our school. 
 

A donor contributing $2,500 or more cumulatively to any fund (annual, capital or restricted fund) within a fiscal year.  Donors at this level are honored with membership into The Green & Gold Leadership Giving Society. Each fall, Leadership Donors are honored with an invitation to The Green & Gold Society Dinner. 

Yes. Gifts to non-profit educational institutions such as Country Day qualify as charitable contributions and can be deducted from your tax return. 

Pledge payments may be made until the campaign deadline of June 30, 2024.

All donors to The Fund for Country Day are listed in the Honor Roll of Donors section of our Report on Philanthropy, published each fall.

All gifts to The Fund for Country Day are charitable gifts and are fully tax-deductible. 

Membership dues to parent support organizations are not considered tax-deductible charitable contributions by the IRS because goods and services are received in exchange for the dues.

The Fund is used for current day-to day operations and the funds are unrestricted. 

A capital gift or an endowment gift is a restricted gift directed to a specific fund.  These gifts will go towards Country Day’s future. Periodic appeals are made for specific needs such as facility improvements and new building construction. 

The Upper School STEM building, Mingledorff Hall, is a recent example of a building project funded by the Invest in Excellence capital campaign. 

Increases to the endowment are made through Planned Estate Gifts (SCDS Heritage Society) or gifts to the Restricted Scholarship Funds. 

The Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program (APOGEE) allows Country Day to receive funds from a GA citizen through a redirection of their State of Georgia income tax. A Student Scholarship Organization (SSO) administers the process for participants. Country Day partners with an SSO called Apogee. Funds received from APOGEE are restricted funds that must be used for financial aid in support for incoming academically and financially eligible students.  Funds received from this initiative help to free up operating dollars for usage towards other school needs. SCDS greatly appreciates you redirecting your state tax dollars for financial aid to SCDS however, participation in APOGEE  does not count to your family’s Fund for Country Day support.
