Savannah Morning News Recognizes Top Athletes

The Savannah Morning News honors the top area athletes in their sports with the Best of Preps selections. The athletes will be recognized at the SMN Best of Preps banquet in May 2020. Alston McCaslin was honored as 1st Team All Greater Savannah for cross country. Anna Mondy was selected to the Second Team and Eliza Stubbs was Honorable Mention. For volleyball, Mya Felser, Abby Nicholson and Fiona Wilson received Honorable Mention. Five Hornets were selected to the 1st Team All Greater Savannah for football - Erik Brown, Barry Kleinpeter, Andre Miller, Kenny Odom and Kenneth Reedy. Second Team honors were Graham McGinty, Davion Smith, Brock Taylor and John Woods. Honorable Mention were Rivers Carson, Karlo Jukic, Paul Mosley, Brayton Rahimi, Dalton Spivey, Will Templeton and Logan Ziegler. Congratulations!

1st Team 
Alston McCaslin, jr., 32nd at GHSA Class A Private state meet (18:19.07); 6th in Class A Area 1 (18:11.72); won Hornet Invitational (18:19.65); 2nd in Savannah Area Private School Championship (17:39.44); 4th in Frazier-Hite (17:49.30). All-Greater Savannah Honorable Mention in 2018.

1st Team Offense
Barry Kleinpeter, so., Savannah Country Day, QB
Kleinpeter was an All-Region 3-A East first-team pick. He completed 134 passes in 219 attempts (61 percent) with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 466 yards and eight scores.
Kenny Odom, so., Savannah Country Day, ATH
Odom caught 33 passes for 612 yards and nine scores and added 112 yards rushing and two touchdowns. On defense, he had 48 tackles, three TFL, a sack and a pair of interceptions.
Erik Brown, jr., Savannah Country Day, WR
Brown had 38 catches for 778 yards and eight scores. Defensively, he had 27 tackles and a pair of interceptions earning First-Team All-Region honors.

1st Team Defense
Kenneth Reedy, sr., Savannah Country Day, DL
The Region 3-A East Defensive Player of the Year had 54 tackles, 13 tackles for losses and four sacks.
Andre Miller, sr., Savannah Country Day, DL
Miller, who recently decomitted from Army, is set to make his college decision soon. He had 46 tackles, four TFL and a pair of sacks. He added 27 catches for 347 yards and five offensive touchdowns.
