Harlander Family Gives Back With Endowed Scholarship
Kathie Harlander was deeply involved in The Savannah Country Day School when her three children, Dr. Kris Harlander Saudek '91, Lisa Harlander Lemke J.D. '93 and Brent Harlander '97 attended. After getting them all through college, Kathie renewed her involvement with Country Day and is a current member of the Board of Trustees.
Because of the positive impact Savannah Country Day had on all three of her children, Kathie and husband Brian created the Harlander Family Endowed Scholarship for financial aid with a $25,000 gift.
"In order to prepare confident, well-rounded citizens of the world, diversity is essential at the School," said Kathie. "We feel fortunate to have had our three educated at Country Day and want to give back."
Country Day will use annual income from the Endowment for financial assistance to a Country Day student who has demonstrated financial need.
"The Harlander Family Scholarship will provide a family an opportunity to send a child to Country Day," said Head of School Kef Wilson. "What a wonderful way for Brian and Kathie to mark the Harlander family's legacy here."
By creating this named scholarship, Kathie hopes that the entire family will help grow the Fund.
"I told the kids that I don't need birthday gifts or anniversary cards. I hope that they will send a gift to Country Day to have this scholarship grow even larger," said Kathie.
