Julius and Danyse Edel have always been grateful to The Savannah Country Day School for educating their children Ken and Cathy '74, and now grandchildren Delia Solomons '02 and Danyse Solomons Cail '04. This gratitude has led Julius and Danyse to be lifelong benefactors to Country Day.
Most recently, The Edels made a $25,000 gift to create the Danyse & Julius Edel Endowed Fund to Support Studio Art Enrichment. The annual draw from this fund will be used to fund grants for student participation in summer art enrichment programs.
The goal of the grants is to further develop student interest and talent in the Fine Arts and increase the likelihood of students gaining admission to and continuing their study of art at a prestigious college or university.
"We are so proud of what Country Day has become," said Danyse. "The students are so talented in everything, the fine arts and the performing arts. We are hoping this grant will provide opportunities for students interested in art to learn and grow as an artist."
The Edel Art Gallery in Pressly Hall is dedicated to Danyse who was Savannah Country Day's first Art Department Chairperson.
"Growing the Endowment and continuing the School on this wonderful path is important," said Julius. "We hope more people will give back to the School for what has been given."
