Service Through Knowledge and Character

Innovation and Collaboration

Did you know that Velcro was invented by a Swiss engineer after he removed burrs from his dog and decided to take a closer look at how they worked? This is an example of biomimicry, or nature inspiring innovation, which is what students in Ms. Vetrovsky’s first grade science class are learning about by coming up with their own nature-inspired inventions. To help them bring their ideas to life, they invited Upper School students from Ms. Mulzer’s Art and Design 400 class to sketch their inventions. Talk about a winning collaboration!
