Savannah Country Day is pleased to welcome both the incoming Director of Athletics and Physical Education, Erik Johnson, and the incoming Director of College Counseling, Chris Beckmann.

Erik holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and physical education from Skidmore College, where he played Division III lacrosse, earning the role of team captain and most valuable player and setting the school record in scoring.  Erik grew up in Spring Valley, New York, and attended the Green Meadow Waldorf School, where he was a three-sport athlete in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse.  He also holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University and spent eight years as a chiropractor before entering the field of education in 2004.

Chris Beckmann comes to us from the Oak Hall School, a prek-12 independent school in Gainesville, Florida.  Chris brings thirty years of independent school experience, including nineteen as a college counselor and seven as Director of College Counseling.  He has also been a teacher of history, government and economics, a department chair, and a dean of faculty during his time at Oak Hall.
