As we count down the hours to today’s solar eclipse, The Savannah Country Day School is taking full advantage of the historic event as a teachable moment for its students. From Lower School to Upper School, our Hornets are participating in educational and interactive activities across all subjects — including the geometry of an eclipse, the history behind eclipse myths, and how living organisms react to sudden darkness during an eclipse. In addition to the special programming and activities, the school will be educating students about the safety measures associated with an eclipse to ensure a safe viewing experience for all.
In the afternoon, teachers will accompany small groups of students outdoors for a brief live viewing experience using “CE” certified solar viewing glasses (Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten children will remain indoors). We can’t wait to experience this rare and spectacular event with our Hornets!
