Academic Camps

DATES: Week 7 - July 20th to July 24th

TIMES: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

COST: $210

Make it a full day! If your child is participating in the morning academic camp, you can extend their day with Camp Moon River.

• Time: 12:00 PM – 4:30 PM

• Lunch: Included! (No need to pack a separate lunch for the afternoon)

• Activities: After their morning program, campers will transition to CMR for an afternoon of traditional camp games, crafts, and outdoor fun.

• The Confidence Connection Bonus: JK campers will join forces with K Rise-Up Ready campers for shared activities, enhancing social connections and teamwork across grade levels!

• Academic Power-Up: Supercharge literacy and numeracy! Campers will master recognizing all upper- and lower-case letters, phonetic consonant sounds, numbers up to 10, and confidently practice writing their own name.
• Independence Ignition: Building self-care superheroes! We focus on crucial life skills and independence, including confident bathroom routines, thorough hand-washing, mastering buttons and zippers on their own, and proper tissue usage—all wrapped in fun, encouraging practice.
• Teamwork & Communication Mastery: Elevate social confidence! Campers practice key social skills like attentive listening, clear communication, collaborative teamwork, sharing resources, and speaking kindly to peers and instructors.

We focus on crucial social intelligence, including demonstrating consideration for others, mastering group turn-taking, expertly resolving interpersonal challenges, and developing resilience and flexibility during high-energy playground activities.

Speech & Debate Camp will empower students through public expression to become better thinkers, speakers, writers, listeners, and leaders. Campers in this program will explore and develop their thinking and speaking skills through games and exercises involving public speaking (impromptu and prepared), as well as group problem-solving and discussion.

Campers will be exposed to and learn various formal styles of debate (e.g., Student Congress & Public Forum debate) as well as other communication-based activities. They will learn to cope with speaking anxiety, to organize and support their ideas, to critically evaluate and respond appropriately to others' ideas, and to deliver effective messages. The format and content will directly prepare students to participate in competitive debate or forensics throughout the school year.
